"The second wave has arrived, but the same problems persist"

Almost a year after the start of the pandemic, we still face a lack of PPEs and a shortage of health professionals. According to PSI General Secretary Rosa Pavanelli, this shows both the total absence of a clear "strategic approach" to deal with Covid-19 and the results of 30 years of austerity programs.

Rosa's analysis was shared, on 4 November, in the plenary session "People at the forefront in fighting Covid-19" as part of the International Hospital Federation Virtual Forum "Learning from Covid-19 - Transforming Health Services" - an event attended by participants from 56 countries.

The PSI General Secretary was invited to speak in a plenary which also included Jim Campbell, WHO's Health Workforce Director; Annette Kennedy, International Council of Nurses' President; and Dr. Otmar Kloiber, World Medical Association's Secretary-General.

Rosa Pavanelli's intervention starts at 35'33.
