PSI unions issued a statement calling on the government of Kenya to stop the privatisation of essential public services such as water, energy and waste management.

In a stakeholder engagement in Kenya, PSI unions issued a statement pushing back against the privatisation of essential public services such as water, energy and waste management.

They explained how privatisation of these services lead to the exclusion of communities, increased tariffs and deteriorating quality of public services. The unions recommended more public ownership alternatives for the government to keep public service ownership public.

This joint demands were made by four unions in the DGB project-Kenya Electrical Trade and Allied Workers Union, Union of Kenya Civil Servants, Kenya Union of Commercial Food and Allied Workers Union and County Government Workers Union-Kenya
