ILC 2023 - Marcelo di Stefano

At the General Discussion on the General Survey report on "Achieving gender equality at work" Marcelo Di Stefano, of the Confederation of Workers of the Universities of the Americas (CONTUA) , spoke about the importance of updating and revising international labour standards to reflect changes in labour relations and social and cultural changes.

He emphasized the need for a gender and intersectional perspective in the interpretation of these standards and called for a normative discussion on family responsibilities and discriminatory effects at work, as well as a rethinking of Convention 111 on discrimination in the world of work. He also advocated for more protection for maternity and families and for addressing wage inequality and the glass ceiling.
