Eurodad has launched the civil society principles for a multilateral sovereign debt workout mechanism (DWM), accompanied by a briefing setting out the case for why such a mechanism is growing ever more necessary. Public services International has endorsed these principles.

The call for a debt workout mechanism in line with core civil society principles has been a longstanding one for many in the debt and economic justice movements. Such a mechanism should enable comprehensive debt restructurings that do not favour reckless debtors and creditors over the human rights of citizens and workers.
