Safeguarding Public Service Workers in Flood Response and Preparedness
This project aims to strengthen the capacity, protection, and rights of public service workers in Pakistan who are on the frontline of disaster response, particularly during floods and climate-induced emergencies.
Supported by PSI and its affiliates, the project promotes decent work, safety and resilience through training, advocacy, and crisis relief efforts that benefit both workers and the communities they serve. The initiative includes training workshops on ILO guidelines, awareness campaigns, and consultations on climate resilience, health governance, and social protection. It also mobilises solidarity relief during crises.
The project directly benefits unionised public service workers such as lady health workers, sanitation staff, irrigation workers, and emergency responders. It also strengthens unions' ability to advocate for safer, fairer working conditions—ultimately benefiting the communities they serve during disasters.
