Project to Strengthen the Protection of Trade Union Rights and Collective Bargaining
With this project, PSI unions in Guatemala and El Salvador are seeking to fully exercise freedom of association and effective recognition of collective bargaining in a climate of greater respect for human and labor rights in these countries.
With funding from SASK in Finland, PSI unions in Guatemala and El Salvador are seeking to fully exercise freedom of association and effective recognition of collective bargaining in a climate of greater respect for human and labour rights in these countries.
The project includes trade union training activities to increase the organisational and strategic capacities of unions with a more comprehensive view of the participation of women and young people. The activities are designed to organise campaigns for the respect of human rights, quality public services, the fight against water privatisation, environmental protection, tax justice and anti-corruption.
As a result of the project, a system for shop stewards has been established in both countries, as well as to improve the financial and administrative management of the unions. With this project, unions in both countries interact with each other and have seen their negotiation and advocacy strategies strengthened in the spaces of tripartite social dialogue to ensure compliance with ILO Conventions 87, 98 and 154.
