Capacity building and strategic planning for public services trade unions in Honduras
The aim of the project is to strengthen the organisational and strategic capacities of PSI-affiliated public service and municipal unions in Honduras.
PSI affiliates in the country are working to improve coordination between themselves. This concerns issues such as respect for freedom of association, collective bargaining, social security, decent work and the ratification of ILO Conventions 151 and 154. This is to establish a more effective dialogue in the tripartite social dialogue forums for decent work, health and social security. It is fundamental to guarantee a minimum level of social protection, with gender equality and the inclusion of youth.
Honduran trade unions, together with other national and international social organizations, actively support the campaign for the recognition of human rights to water and sanitation; they support the actions of social movements for environmental rights and against corporate interests of the mining and energy industry based in the country.
