أكثر من 500 منظمة وأكاديمي من حول العالم يدعون صندوق النقد الدولي للتوقف عن تعزيز التقشف في فترة التعافي من آثار فيروس كورونا

أكثر من 500 منظمة وأكاديمي من 87 دولة منهم PSI أصدروا بيانا اليوم يدعون فيه صندوق النقد الدولي للتوقف عن تعزيز التقشف، وأن يدعم بدلا من هذا السياسات المعززة للعدالة الجندرية والتي تقلل اللامساواة وتضع الناس والكوكب في المقدمة.

بدأ صندوق النقد الدولي بالفعل الدفع ببعض البلدان نحو القروض طويلة المدى المشروطة بالتقشف مع تشجيع الدول على اتخاذ تدابير الإنعاش هذه من خلال حزم مالية طارئة قصيرة المدى تُدفع مبكرا. هذه السياسات ترسخ اللامساواة الجندرية والاقتصادية، وتقوض أي فرصة لأي عملية إنعاش شاملة خاصة أنه يُتوقع أن تحتاج العديد من الدول في الجنوب العالمي المزيد من التمويل طويل المدى في المستقبل القريب.

يأتي البيان قبل الاجتماعات السنوية لصندوق لنقد الدولي والبنك الدولي المقرر أن تبدأ الأسبوع المقبل (12-18 أكتوبر).
