Organising women workers in India Young women workers in India learn about “deep organising”
PSI conducted an organising and planning workshop with Indian young workers in the public and private health sector in Pune on 17-18 December. Nineteen young women health workers from two PSI affiliate unions, United Nurses Association and Nagpur Municipal Corporation Employees Union, participated in the workshop. The training workshop discussed JaneMcAveley’s deep organising tactics.
During the workshop, the participants learned about the importance of strategising in organising unions, workplace mapping, working conditions, and gender. The unions developed their road maps for health organising in their respective work areas for 2023. Using the step-wise organising strategy, the unions did a few exercises on workplace mapping of their respective public healthcare centres and private hospitals that they would target in organising unions.
