Ver.di supports Ukrainian seafarer union

On 27 April, PSI affiliate in Germany, Ver.di, is dedicating its Twitter account to the Marine Transport Workers‘ Trade Union of Ukraine (MTWTU) to talk about their work during the war.

Olga Losynska, from the seafarers union of Ukraine (MTWTU) is currently working in the ver.di federal administration building in Berlin, right at the heart of ver.di’s own seafarers‘ department.

Ukraine is among the world’s Top 5 suppliers of marine personnel to the global marine market. The trade union representing the employees is the Marine Transport Workers‘ Trade Union of Ukraine (MTWTU). The MTWTU is 80,000 members strong. Since Putin’s war against Ukraine, which is in violation of international law, MTWTU has been supporting Ukraine even in the face of existential threat: Seafarers’ jobs take them all over the world, whilst their families are fleeing from the war.

On 27 April 2022, colleagues from MTWTU will be taking over the ver.di Twitter account to talk about all of the MTWTU’s work during the war.

"With absolute certainty, we will show Olga and her colleagues our unrelenting support and solidarity, for as long as it lasts" - ver.di
