Uruguay is the First Country in the World to Ratify ILO Convention 190

After the process in the Senate, the country's House of Representatives approved the Convention on violence and harassment in the workplace on December 17.

Uruguay is the first country in the world to approve Convention 190 of the International Labour Organization (ILO) on Violence and Harassment at Work.

On 17 December, the House of Representatives approved the Bill sent to Congress by the Executive aimed at ratifying this international instrument. The Uruguayan Senate had approved it on 10 December. The bill has now been sent to the Executive for its approval and promulgation, at which occasion it will become law.

Convention 190 and its respective Recommendation 206 were adopted at the ILO in June 2019 during the 108th International Labour Conference, in the framework of the celebration of the centenary of this tripartite organization.
