Solidarity following Sierra Leone mudslide

PSI has sent a solidarity letter to its affiliates in Sierra Leone following the devastating mudslide that took place on 14 August near Freetown. This is one of Africa's worst flooding-related disasters in years killing hundreds and leaving thousands homeless.

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

Solidarity in support of Sierra Leoneans in moment of grief and shock

On behalf of all Public Services International affiliates, we wish to convey our solidarity message to you in this very moment of national grief and to share with you our sympathy over the death of so many of your loved ones who died as a result of mudslide that claims over 450 lives mostly women and children.

We are with you in this period of national calamity and use this medium to call upon all well-meaning agencies and individuals within and outside Sierra Leone to come to the aid of survivors who are now homeless and need shelter.

We also appeal to all our members in the Health sector to rededicate themselves in offering selfless services as the country is now facing serious health concerns.

Once again, we stand with you in this period and wish to offer any assistance where necessary.

In Solidarity,

Sani Baba Mohammed
