Dear Sister Evi Krisnawati,
Subject: Congratulations on your election
On behalf of Public Services International (PSI), I would like to warmly congratulate you on your election as General Chairperson of FSP FARKES Reformasi for the period of 2022-2027.
As the union’s first woman Chairperson this is an historic election. PSI is committed to supporting affiliates to advance women’s leadership within unions and we know that your appointment will inspire other women workers across Indonesia and the region.
The pandemic has highlighted the critical role the members of FSP FARKES R and all health and pharmaceutical workers play in providing quality health services and frontline services. It has also reinforced the importance of trade unionism, with workers in trade unions able to advocate for better PPE, more staff and long term changes to public health financing and support.
With Indonesia as the chair of the G20 this year, there are important opportunities for Indonesian unions to ensure workers’ voices and demands are heard. We welcome the participation of FSP FARKES R in the C20 working groups and we look forward to working with you to advocate for more equitable access to vaccines and other health products and universal quality public health and care services.
As you embark upon your new responsibilities, we wish you and your leadership team success in growing the strength and power of the federation. We will stand with you to grow the union movement in Indonesia and across the world and to demand a more just and equitable world where workers and people are put before profits.
Again congratulations, we look forward to working with you.
In solidarity,
Kate Lappin
