Union Organise in Senegal PSI Calls for a Stop to the June 3 Staff Delegate Elections in SEN’EAU

PSI writes in solidarity with its affiliate SATES and the workers of SEN’EAU. The call to halt the staff delegate elections set for June 3 comes after serious concerns were raised about attempts to rig the vote using a digital system created and controlled by SEN’EAU itself.

PSI stands with SATES and the workers of SEN’EAU in rejecting any electoral process that lacks transparency and legitimacy. Workers deserve leaders they freely choose—not ones handpicked through a rigged process.
SATES made the following demands:
An immediate suspension of the June 3 election process. No voting should take place under a system that workers and unions do not trust.
The abandonment of any attempt to impose a digital voting method controlled by the employer.
The organization of physical elections in line with established regulations. Workers must be able to vote in a process that is transparent, and verifiable.
The establishment of a transparent consultation forum that respects the union landscape at SEN’EAU. This includes real dialogue, not management-driven dictates.
