Trade union organization PSI affiliate in Peru calls national strike in defense of public health and labor rights

The national strike called by the Social Health Insurance (EsSalud) workers' union aims to defend the quality of public health for more than 13 million Peruvians, guarantee the full autonomy of the entity and safeguard the collective bargaining rights of its workers.
The union demands that the government of Dina Boluarte:
Guarantee the institutional autonomy of EsSalud, free from political interference.
Defend the rights of the insured, who deserve dignified and professional health care.
Reject the politicization of public health, which undermines public confidence in the system.
Fully respect collective bargaining and the labor rights of those who sustain the system with their daily work.
Given the indifference shown by the Boluarte government and the growing institutional instability, Wilfredo Ponce, secretary general of the FED-CUT, made an urgent appeal to the executive president of EsSalud to act responsibly.
"We urge the executive president to assume his responsibility and seek concrete and sustainable solutions that guarantee the viability of EsSalud and protect the labor rights of its workers," stated Ponce.
