The positions of two government agencies, Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) and the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) were highlighted in the Conference. These agencies have expressed support for the ratification of the convention to end violence and harassment in the world of work. The ratification documents are complete and ready and will be transmitted to the Office of the President soon. PSI affiliates resolved to continue with the campaign to press the Philippine government to ratify the convention within the year.
Subsequently, affiliates conducted a flash mob in front of the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA). The transmittal of the ratification documents to the Office of the President (OP) emanating from DFA is a crucial step in the process of the ratification. Once the Office of the President receives the ratification documents, the President can act on it by signing and transmit the same to the Senate for concurrence. PSI affiliates along with Building and Woodworkers International (BWI) joined the flash mob. Letter to the Department of Foreign Affairs Secretary urging the department to transmit the documents to the Office of the President was well received by the department.
