Norwegian affiliate Delta visits PSI Head Office

On 13 December, the PSI Head Office in Ferney-Voltaire welcomed a delegation of around 20 Executive Board members from Delta, the Norwegian Public Sector Trade Union, led by its president, Trond Ellefsen.

The delegation consisted of municipal workers with backgrounds in diverse fields such as health, tax, local administration, air traffic, social security, and employment services. Delta, which represents approximately 100,000 members, has supported PSI projects in various capacities and locations.

The primary purpose of their visit was to meet with PSI’s newly elected General Secretary, Daniel Bertossa, and discuss future collaborations and work plans.

During the visit, Bertossa provided an overview of PSI's ongoing work. He emphasized the importance of prioritizing sectoral work and PSI’s role within global institutions, highlighting PSI as the only workers’ voice within these bodies. He also discussed the challenges faced by public services workers and outlined PSI’s Programme of Action.

Daria Cibrario, PSI’s Local and Regional Government Officer, offered an in-depth presentation on the work PSI has been doing around the globe in this sector. She highlighted recent victories and achievements as encouragement for continued collaboration.

Finally, PSI's project team, including Luis Monje, Aisha Bahadur, and Sandra Van Niekerk, shared about relevant projects within the LRG sector. Their insights provided valuable context for future joint initiatives.

This visit by the Norwegian delegation underscores the strong bond between PSI and Delta, and sets the stage for further collaboration in advancing the interests of public sector workers globally.
