The conference was attended by trade union presidents and women committee leaders, as well as a group of unionists from all PSI affiliates in Lebanon.
The conference emphasized the importance of the campaign and the legal basis on which it is based, as well as the most important objectives of the brochure.
The conference concluded with a speech by Mrs. Najwa Hanna, the PSI sub-regional secretary for Arab countries, in which she reviewed the implementation of the projects since 1997, when PSI projects started in Lebanon, where the number of women did not exceed the fingers of one hand.
“Today, the presence and participation of women has become one of the main pillars of the work of PSI affiliates in Lebanon”, Hanna said.
She emphasized on the importance of the campaign and called on member unions to exert all efforts to achieve its goals. She added that the unions are working in the right direction to achieve progress and development to strengthen social protection, the protection of workers and to eliminate all forms of discrimination against women.
