The Protection of Whistleblowers in Africa

PSI affiliates in the Africa and Arab countries region have witnessed an increase in the arrests and intimidation of whistleblowers in their country.
As a follow-up to our resolution adopted at AFRECON last November, this 2-day online activity for trade union officials, will provide a practical introduction to the whistleblowing landscape in Africa. Participants will work through a practical exercise to examine a whistleblowing case and identify key issues facing union officials when dealing with a whistleblower.
We will be providing simultaneous interpretation into English and French.

This paper seeks to map out laws and practices and identify measures in place for the protection of whistle-blowers by analysing a representative sample of laws, regulations and international instruments.
