Organised by McMaster University in collaboration with Queens University, University of Glasgow and PSI, this conference aims at raising awareness about the existence of public banks and their potential to fund quality public services for all.
There currently are 1115 public banks in the world totalling over US$91 trillion assets, a large part of which are established at a subnational level.
PSI has already published a trade union guide on how trade unions can engage and use public banks in the common interest: see “The potential of public banks to fund local quality public services: A policy brief for workers and trade unions” and “Public Financing for Local Quality Public Services”. PSI affiliates and staff interested in the topic and/or in joining this event and its preparation please contact: Daria Cibrario daria.cibrario@world-psi.org
