The Caribbean’s Young Workers’ Caucus is a space for young workers that surrounds the sub-region’s annual meetings.

The Caucus provides an opportunity for young workers who attend the sub-regional advisory committee meetings to meet, discuss, share perspectives and develop ideas, recommendations for areas of work. It is the space where young workers indicate their specific priorities especially those priorities that link to PSI’s Programme of Action (PoA).

Especially in the midst of the multiple crises we face, Union renewal/re-invigoration of the membership is critical. In this context it is important to equip young workers with new skills, in depth knowledge of the trade union principles and a clear and solid understanding and appreciation of the value of quality public services (QPS). It is important that young workers are trained and encouraged to work collectively on workplace issues. This starts in the affiliates and then progresses to Caribbean, regional and international trade union structures.

This year’s caucus is a hybrid meeting. The Youth League of the National Union of Public Workers (NUPW Youth League) is the host of the 2025 Young Workers’ Caucus.

PSI’s vision for a better world is the basis for this year’s Caucus.

“Fighting for a strong democratic state, an inclusive society, gender equality, respect and dignity for all, inclusive economic development, redistribution of wealth and strengthened workers’ power, will continue to be our objectives for the next five years. Ensuring peace, ecological sustainability and a fair multilateral system are integral to this struggle.”    PSI PoA, adopted at 2023 World Congress

Young workers will discuss and share their perspectives on 4 themes:

  1. Diversification of Caribbean Economies

  2. LGBTQ+ Rights and Union Inclusivity

  3. Digitalisation

  4. Pandemics and Epidemics
