- 27 Oct - 27 Oct
- Hotel Fiesta Americana Reforma - Mexico City
The first meeting of the regional committee was held in Sao Paulo, Brazil on 27-28 June 2013 in the framework of a Project to promote Equal Opportunities for LGBT Workers in the Public Sector in Brazil/Inter-Americas with the support of ABVAKABO FNV.
In the morning, the meeting will adopt PSI’s Regional Campaign for LGBT workers’ rights, including a slogan, presentation of materials and actions to be developed. Updates on the action plan adopted in the last meeting as well as an evaluation of results and reports from each sub-region will be presented.
We are also delighted to announce that a Cooperation Agreement will be signed between PSI Americas and ILGA LAC (as agreed at the last meeting of the Regional LGBT Committee).
In the afternoon, PSI affiliate members will take part in the Session on Labour Inclusion of the ILGA World Conference. The day will be concluded by a Labour Caucus, open to all trade union delegates at the ILGA Conference.
The International Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans and Intersex Association, ILGA, is a global federation of national and local organizations that works to achieve equal rights for lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans and intersex (LGBTI) people around the world. The mission of ILGA is to strengthen the LGBTI movement in every region of the world, in order to construct a more just world where liberty and social harmony prevail based on respect and the protection of human diversity. ILGA’s 27th World Conference, “De-colonizing our bodies,” is the second to take place in Latin America and the first in Mexico.
