The first part of the workshop heard panellists discuss the current refugee/migrants crisis, its human rights dimension and links to climate issues and local public services. The workshop also aimed to explore the race and gender dimensions intrinsically linked to climate migrants and how those issues can be highlighted and addressed through the work of trade unions.

Genevieve Gencianos, PSI Migration Programme Coordinator, highlighted the role of quality public services in supporting rights-based mitigation and adaptation strategies in dealing with potentially massive displacement of people arising from changing climatic conditions and situations of conflict.
