Labour–UN tax justice dialogue in New York

  • 6 Aug - 7 Aug
  • New York, NY, USA

10:00 - 14:00 CET

Please save the date for an in-person labour dialogue on international tax cooperation, co-organised by the Network of Unions for Tax Justice (NUTJ), Public Services International (PSI), the International Trade Union Confederation (ITUC), and the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung (FES), taking place in New York during the first week of formal negotiations on the UN Framework Convention on International Tax Cooperation.

Governments will meet in New York in early August to begin negotiating a new UN tax convention, which could mark a turning point in how international tax rules are written.

This roundtable will bring together labour representatives and UN delegates to exchange perspectives on the stakes for tax justice, and the role of trade unions in shaping international tax cooperation. The discussion will build on union advocacy to date and explore how to engage effectively as negotiations unfold.

Agenda overview:

  • 10:00–12:00 | Preparatory session
A closed-door meeting for union representatives and allies to align messages and share strategies ahead of diplomatic outreach.

  • 12:30–14:00 | Roundtable lunch with UN representatives
An open exchange with selected mission staff to share labour perspectives and strengthen long-term engagement.
