This International Nurses Day, 12 May 2026, the International Labour Organization (ILO) is hosting an exciting webinar on how artificial intelligence (AI) is emerging as a key issue for nurses all across this global workforce.
Researchers from leading universities and public institutions will present their findings from three studies on the use of digital technologies and AI in nursing carried out in India, Germany, and the Republic of Korea.
Discussion will include: the types of technology being introduced; their implications for working conditions, skills requirements, quality of care, and the future of the nursing workforce.
The presentations will be followed by reflections from key stakeholders, including Public Services International (PSI), employers’ representatives, and the International Council of Nurses (ICN), providing a multi‑stakeholder perspective on the governance of AI in nursing and the role of social dialogue in shaping its use in health services.
Representing PSI will be Huma Haq, PSI Nursing and Care Officer, who will draw on her experience working with nurses from across the world, as she joins ICN colleagues to put forward critically important perspectives from the frontline of the profession.
