Global Labour Tax Summit

  • 17 Sep - 18 Sep
  • Geneva, Switzerland - ILO Room V

The global tax rules are currently being discussed in the UN, OECD, G20 and sustainable development forums, as there is widespread agreement that the global tax rules don’t work. Workers are being asked to pay more tax and receive less public services while multinationals and the richest in the world avoid paying tax altogether.

This summit, being held in partnership with the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung (FES), will examine tax issues from a labour perspective. It will bring together global experts, trade union leaders from the public and private sector, civil society and government representatives from around the world to share information and discuss the threats posed to public services, democracy and workers. The summit will be looking for strategic opportunities and planning for action – participants will be motivated, capable people who will return to their country to spread the word. There will be Spanish, French, Japanese and English interpretation.
