Economic Justice and Equality for Women in Health and Social Care

  • 29 Mar - 29 Mar
  • México

PSI will participate in this virtual session organized under the recently launched Gender Equal Health and Care Workforce initiative (GEHCWI), as a Generation Equality Forum Mexico Special Session.

Organised by the Government of France, the World Health Organisation (WHO) and Women in Global Health (WGH), the session will lay the groundwork for the identification of champions and the announcement of commitments to be made at the June Generation Equality Forum. The panel will discuss and explore opportunities to advance women’s economic equality in the health and care workforce and what policy actions different stakeholders can take to further economic justice and equality for women in the sector.

PSI will highlight its Manifesto: Rebuilding the social organisation of care as well as discuss some of the key outcomes from the recently concluded Commission on the Status of Women UNCSW65.

The session supports the goals of GEF Mexico - to issue a global call to action to accelerate gender equality implementation and reinforce the idea that gender equality must be central to every pandemic recovery plan along with the second pillar of the GEHCWI which is to end unpaid and underpaid work done by women in the health and care sector by including it in the formal labour market and redistributing it equally. It also supports 2021 as the International Year of Health and Care Workers, designated by the World Health Assembly in November 2020.

Join the event on Monday, March 29 at 3:30 – 5:00 PM EDT (New York) | 1:30 - 3:00 PM (Mexico City).
