Digital Rights Organizers training Africa & Arab Countries - Session 3

  • 30 Jul - 30 Jul
  • Togo

Three sessions to train the Digital Rights Organizers in the Africa & Arab Countries region will be held on 6th of July, 13th of July, and 30th of July from 10:00 to 13:00 GMT.

Our Digital Future campaign is built on the fact that digitalization is taking up our workspace and public services and Unions must act fast to ensure the digitalization transformation is geared towards the public interest. Now the nature of digitalization favors the private sector, invades our privacy, and infringes on our right to ownership of data.

The Digital Rights Organizers (DROs) training will therefore help Unions:

  1. develop and effectively communicate a positive, alternative model and vision, where the digital transformation is publicly governed and shaped for the collective good.

  2. Win protection, rights, and power at the workplace to proactively shape digitalization-related processes.

  3. Influence policies and processes to ensure that digitalization in public services goes towards better access, quality, and effectiveness (in a positive sense, not just cost-cutting).

  4. lead the public debate on how digital technologies should be used and governed and play a key role in shaping their governance systems.

  5. know which tools can assist in governing digital systems.
