The project is designed to enhance public sector trade unions’ understanding of the challenges posed by climate change for the world of work and sustainable development. The project will contribute to the technical and organisational capacities of public sector trade unions. This will assist public services unions to engage in effective social dialogue for policy development on climate change mitigation and adaptation.
Trade union leaders and activists from the Jamaica Association of Local Government Officers (JALGO), the Jamaica Civil Service Association (JCSA), the Dominica Public Service Union (DPSU) and the Antigua & Barbuda Workers’ Union (ABWU) will attend the workshop. Participants include workers in Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) and Disaster Management from the local government and national administration sectors.
Barbuda and Dominica are each recovering from two separate Category 5 hurricanes in 2017.
