The GFMD is an informal, government-led process bringing together representatives of States in an on-going dialogue to enhance the impact of migration and development. A separate Civil Society Days is being organised as the forum for civil society participants. At the same time, there is also the alternative people-led process known as the “Peoples Global Action on Migration, Development and Human Rights” (PGA) bringing together communities, workers and civil society for dialogue and exchange. The PGA dates are planned on the 9th - 11th May 2014 in Stockholm.
PSI, together with the other Global Union Federations (GUFs), such as ITUC, BWI and EI coordinate the involvement of the trade union delegation to these events. Our aim is to promote the gender and rights-based approach to migration and development and to defend access to quality public services for all. In this year’s GFMD, the GUFs are working with the Swedish trade union movement in planning the trade union activities. We will provide you more information as plans are being confirmed.
