“Effective Measures To Reduce the Gender Pay Gap”: EPIC Technical Meeting

  • 18 Feb - 19 Feb
  • Berlin, Germany

Members of Barbados Pay Equity Committee review the preliminary report with Carmen Benitez (ILO ACTRAV), Carol-ann Jordan and Andrea Bentancor (consultants)

Public Services International (PSI) will present the experiences and main conclusions from the pilot studies it is has carried out in public entities with the support of ACTRAV of the ILO Regional Office for Latin America and the Caribbean based in Lima, Peru. The pilot studies were held in Barbados, Chile, Panama and Peru. The studies used a methodology that ILO has promoted since 2008 in accordance with ILO Convention 100 to the realities in institutions/workplaces. The (sub) sectors covered were health and social services – Queen Elizabeth Hospital and Psychiatric Hospital (Barbados), national administration – department for occupational insurance (Chile), national administration – Ministry of the Environment (Panama) and utilities - water and sanitation (Peru),

The meeting in Berlin will examine the above, together with examples from other organisations with a view to identifying their impact and how they could be replicated or adapted to other contexts, including the conditions under which they are most likely to be effective in reducing pay inequalities and the gender pay gap.

Barbados’ Minister of Labour and Social Partnership Relations, Colin E Jordan, addresses participants at the formal presentation of the report on the Barbados Pay Equity pilot study
