Let's hear your voice!
During the two weeks, parallel and side events are sources of rich and poignant stories about women in unions and elsewhere who have championed women’s rights nationally or globally. Their stories need to be shared to a wider audience - and union delegates can play a valuable role in making that happen.
The Global Unions UNCSW Blog, created by Public Services International (PSI), is our central information point which houses articles, photos, videos and social media shareables related to the UNCSW. You can also follow updates on the UNCSW Global Unions ‘Women Power Unions’ Facebook page.
How to report
on sessions, workshops and your overall experience
Articles: 300-words (in any language) for the Global Unions UNCSW Blog (no translation services) along with a photo related to the article (if possible - or check the image library below).
Social Media: Post, share messages via Twitter, Facebook and Instagram and tweeted “live” during the sessions using hashtags #CSW68, #UNCSW68 and #GlobalUnions. Improve outreach by mentioning Global Unions and relevant allies or targets – see Sample tweets and useful Twitter handles here.
Video messages of 1-2 minutes uploaded onto YouTube using smart phones which can be linked to the Global Unions UNCSW Blog.
Photographs & visuals speak a thousand words – your union may have some good visuals or photographs to illustrate your article or tweet
Write an article
First paragraph - Introduce the event or workshop. We recommend that you write no more than three sentences. Think of the W5s – Who, what, where, when, why and how. Why are you reporting and why should it matter to your audience?
Second paragraph - Start with 5 to 7 bullet points. For each bullet, write 2 to 3 sentences explaining the points in more detail. For example: (Name of person and title) from … spoke about the challenges faced by women in her country.
Third paragraph - Write two or three sentences to summarize. It’s a good idea to add a hyperlink at the very end related to the story for more information.
Headline - Now that you’ve written your article, it will be easier for you to come up with a headline that best captures the information carried in your article.
Photos – Try to take a photo or screenshot of the speaker(s) and/or use some of your union’s previous visuals of women workers, women in action.
