James Cavalluzzo is a trade union educator, campaigner and organizer. He was PSI's LGBT+ Rights Campaign Project Coordinator and oversaw the Global Unions LGBTI Workers project.
James is a long-term activist, leader and staff at the British Columbia General Employees Union – BCGEU, one of the provincial unions of PSI’s Canadian affiliate NUPGE. He was chair of their community-based social services component for over 13 years, following which he worked as campaigns and most recently as education officer. He brings a wealth of knowledge and experience across a range of union activities and responsibilities.
James is active in many community groups and has successfully linked unions and community organisations to build political power to advance a progressive agenda, including with the LGBT+ movement, trade unions, and human rights defenders.
The International Labour Conference, presided over by Qatar, removed all reference to LGBT from the event listing with no explanation. The event "No turning back - trade unions and the fight for LGBTI workers' rights" was renamed vaguely, at the last minute, to "ITUC - PSI".
