About Danny
Daniel 'Danny' Bertossa is an economist, tax justice expert, and organisational strategist.
He was elected at PSI’s World Congress in October 2023, having previously served as PSI’s Assistant General Secretary for a number of years. He has led PSI's policy, advocacy, governance and economic work. His focus has been on inequality, trade, tax, debt and the future of quality public services.
Daniel grew up in Adelaide, South Australia, where his father worked in a state-owned power station and his mother was a public school teacher.
From the 1990s, he worked as an organiser and then national officer for trade unions in Australia and the UK covering local government and municipal workers, health and social services, education and private sector service workers, where he lead multiple campaigns for better pay and job security, and against outsourcing and precarious work.
Bertossa served as Director of Policy and Strategy at the Department of Premier and Cabinet in the Government of South Australia, following his time as Ministerial Advisor for Public Sector Management, Local Government and Planning, Aboriginal Affairs, Family and Community Services.
Today, in addition to leading PSI's global activities and initiatives, Daniel also hold roles as co-chair of the steering committee of the Independent Commission on Reform of International Corporate Tax (ICRICT), is a member of the Global Reporting Initiatives (GRI) tax Technical Committee, and is a member of the Centre for Research on Employment and Work (CREW) advisory board at the University of Greenwich.
Danie is a director of the Centre for International Corporate Tax Accountability and Research (CICTAR).

Bertossa is a strong voice for workers and social justice, regularly appearing in media, where he contributes to public debate in publications spanning Le Monde, The Guardian, Poder360, EuroNews, Equal Times, The Hindu, and the International Centre for Trade Union Rights Journal.
