PSI affiliate, the Union of Hospital Practitioners of Togo (SYNPHOT) made the announcement on 3 January 2018, supported by members in the various hospitals such as the CHU, CHR, CHP among others, stressing that this is only a gentle “warning” to the government as the union intends to embark on a full-blown strike action soon if they receive no convincing response.

This action has become necessary because the leadership of SYNPHOT says it is very dissatisfied and enraged at how their concerns have been sidelined by the authorities in-charge of health.

The union is unhappy at the knee-jerk responses of the government towards the growing deplorable situation of health facilities and the working conditions of workers who are up on their feet daily, trying to provide the best forms of health to their patients.
